Description:
51 units of affordable family housing consisting of one and three bedroom flats and two and four bedroom townhouses. Special care was taken to keep the entries to all units within the first two stories by stacking two bedroom townhouses over three bedroom flats. This eliminated the need for an elevator or a second means of egress. A secured courtyard entry for the units was developed in conjunction with a centrally located community building and parking. 26 units were designed for families earning not more than 35% of the area median income. The remaining units are affordable to families earning not more than 50% and 60% of the area median income. Realization of this project was a true community effort, involving the non-profit developers, neighborhood organizations, and the CIty of Oakland.
