Description:
A 3 and 4 story senior residential facility designed to stand alone as an independent building, yet also integrate with an adjacent senior housing complex. The project employs a light gauge metal framing system very unusual for this building type. This resulted in faster framing times, easy fabrication, virtual elimination of any possible fungal growth and signficant cost savings. The building's "U" configuration creates a new courtyard between the two projects, directly off the community areas in the new building, with access to both via a trellis-covered walkway. The entrancy lobby provides a "front room" where residents can informally gather and paricipate in community activity. Management and social service offices are situated adjacent to this area.
