Geraldine Johnson Manor
San Francisco, CA
This Bayview District project in San Francisco contains 54 units of affordable housing for seniors in four stories over a podium parking garage. The L-shaped building encloses a secure courtyard for the enjoyment of residents and their guests. The courtyard is accessed from the first floor lobby with the second, third and fourth floors having a view into the courtyard from the elevator lobby. Interior community spaces include the lobby, community room and kitchen, men’s and women’s restrooms, laundry, mailboxes, and two small offices. Services facilitated in the building are daily meal service and supportive services case management. Prepared meals will be provided by the Salvation Army once a day. The south-facing front porch affords the seniors visibility and interaction with the neighborhood. The project is designed to support residents aging in place. Physical needs of aging are met by all units being either accessible or adaptable.
